The Health Benefits of Hemp Infused Beauty Products

Did you know how many health benefits hemp can provide? We do! And we want to share it with you so we all can enjoy the health benefits of hemp.

Those looking to explore the health benefits of cannabis but are concerned about the psychoactive or legal aspects of this plant should check out products made with hemp oil. Hemp is full of essential fatty acids including Omega-3 and Omega-6, Vitamins A, E, D, and B12. Also, hemp contains minerals like calcium, iron, zinc, magnesium, phosphorous, and potassium, as well as micro elements such as arsenic, chromium, strontium, and thorium. These nutrients are easily absorbed by the skin or into the bloodstream when taken internally.

Health Benefits of Hemp Oil

This posting from the Z Living Network states how hemp oil “can be used to increase immunity, counteract aging skin and improve cardiovascular health. Several studies show that the linoleic acid present in hemp oil can slow down the aging process and fight psoriasis.”

Also, when taken internally, hemp oil can help vegetarians get the right combination of fatty acids, lower cholesterol, and moderate blood sugar levels for diabetics. Other health benefits cited in this posting include maintaining a hormonal balance especially with menopausal woman, preventing demyelination of the nervous system, and reducing varicose veins.

Hemp Versus Cannabis Infused Topicals

Both hemp and cannabis infused topicals have these health benefits as outlined above. Emma Chasen, Director of Education at Farma offers this distinction between hemp and cannabis infused topicals.

“Hemp topicals will only have high amounts of CBD, while cannabis infused topicals are usually either a mix of THC and CBD or THC-dominant. There has been some argument about which concentration level (THC-dominant, CBD-dominant or a mix of the two) is best for topical application. I think a mix of CBD and THC is the most effective when using a topical application. Both compounds have a range of medicinal properties: analgesic, anxiolytic, anti-inflammatory, immune boosting, etc.”

She added, “Of course, THC and CBD can be effective on their own in a topical they just won’t be as effective as they would be working together.” Even though one cannot get “high” when using THC products externally, some people do not want to use any product that has psychoactive effects. For these individuals, hemp can provide a viable alternative for those seeking natural means of treating a range of health conditions.

Also, she adds, “Unlike cannabis topicals, hemp infused topicals are great because of the access that people have to them. Hemp products can be ordered online and shipped across states.” Compare this to cannabis infused products that can only be purchased in licensed dispensaries located in those states where cannabis is legal.

In addition, cannabis cannot be transported legally across state lines let alone packed in one’s luggage especially when traveling internationally. However, hemp based topicals can be taken around the world. Some frequent travelers, who live in a state where cannabis is legal, may use cannabis topicals at home for treating their ailments. But they chose to carry hemp infused products when on the road.

Beauty Products Infused With Hemp

Among the beauty products that one can get infused with hemp for an added health benefit include lip balms, lotions, eye & lip serums, toner, lip scrubs, hair treatments, body wash, makeup, soap, and perfume. For examples of some hemp infused products available on the market, check out these listings from Allure, Elle, and Total Beauty.

Those who take a DIY approach to their beauty regime, can check out this homemade hemp infused facial.

Like with any beauty product, consumers should check the labels and do a bit of research to ensure they are purchasing a reputable product.

Choosing Hemp Only Products

Even though CBD is not psychoactive, it still exists in the legal gray area at the Federal level. For this reason, many companies opt to keep CBD out of their products until the Federal government develops a more favorable approach to hemp. Take for example, CannaSmack. This woman-owned and operated company manufactures all natural, cruelty free, hemp-infused lip balms and lotions, as well as a line of SPF products. All of CannaSmack’s products use domestic hemp sourced from Oregon and are made entirely in the United States. One can still get many of the health benefits using hemp only products.
